Tory is Chair of the Omaha Regional Litigation Department and member of the firm's Executive Committee. He also serves as general counsel to the firm. His practice includes extensive experience in insurance coverage/bad faith litigation, coverage analysis, claims evaluation, reserve setting and complex claims resolution.

In addition to a successful litigation and appellate practice, Tory's experience also includes all manner of alternative dispute resolution methods and innovative settlement structures.

Tory normally practices outside Nebraska and has appeared of record in more than 20 states. As a result of this national practice, he has developed procedures for the efficient administration of such cases, including the creation of an established network of local counsel to facilitate his work outside Nebraska.

Summary judgment on a coverage and bad faith claim filed by a financial institution in Georgia, upheld on appeal to the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals;
Summary judgment on a coverage and bad faith claim filed by a TPA in Texas, upheld on appeal to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals;
Summary judgment on a coverage and bad faith claim filed by an insurance agent, upheld by the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals;
Summary judgment on a coverage and bad faith claim filed by a municipality in Missouri, upheld by the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals;
Summary judgment on a coverage and bad faith claim filed by a financial institution in Iowa;
Rescission of a $10 million life insurance policy for fraud in the application;
Recovery of $2.75 million from an excess carrier that improperly claimed exhaustion of limits;
In the past 36 months, favorable and cost-effective negotiation of claims exceeding $100 million on behalf of liability carriers.
