Kutak Rock was founded January 11, 1965 in Omaha, Nebraska. Our Omaha office occupies the entire historic Omaha Building located downtown on Farnam Street. Established with a handshake among three friends, Kutak Rock was designed to be a first-of-its-kind national law firm. The Omaha office has grown to more than 180 attorneys who provide a wide range of legal services. Because the firm is truly national, attorneys are encouraged to work with each other across our 19 locations to create multidisciplinary teams to most effectively and efficiently help clients meet their goals, whether they’re a small township or start-up, or an entire state system or Fortune 500 business.

Attorneys based in Omaha are deeply involved in their communities, serving in various capacities with pipeline groups, children’s charities, Habitat for Humanity, United Way, and Legal Aid of Nebraska, among many others.

The Omaha office is both proud and fond of The Omaha Building, which was built in 1888 and designed by renowned architect Stanford White. The second-floor Stanford White Room is a tribute to his legacy.

In 1978, under the guidance of our founder, Robert J. Kutak, our firm made a major commitment to the preservation and complete renovation of an abandoned building. The 11-story structure, which was built in 1888, was designed by the renowned New York architectural firm of McKim, Mead & White. At that time, it was the tallest building between Chicago and San Francisco. This commitment marked a milestone in the efforts of local Omaha leadership to begin to rebuild the urban and river-based downtown area. In 2007 we reinvested in the downtown community and completed another renovation of the structure, now known as The Omaha Building, which is the home of our firm’s Omaha office.
