News | February 5, 2025On Wednesday, February 12 at 2 p.m. (CT), Kutak Rock partners John Schembari, Kasey Cappellano and Clete Samson will co-present a NAVA Benefits webinar titled "2025 Executive Orders: What HR Professionals Need to Know." The attorneys will be joined by Ilana Mauskopf, Director of People and Talent Operations for Nava Benefits. The webinar will focus on how new executive orders issued by the President will affect companies' policies regarding DEI, employee benefits and immigration. The speakers will discuss the following topics:
- Gaining clarity on how the executive orders may directly affect work and teams
- Understanding what changes, if any, need to be made within current processes and programs
- Learning how to best prepare for potential future changes to legislation

John Schembari leads Kutak Rock’s national employee benefits and executive compensation group and focuses his practice primarily on minimizing his clients' legal risks while ensuring that their employee benefits and executive compensation programs align with their goals.
Kasey Cappellano has significant experience litigating cases, as well as obtaining summary judgement on discrimination, harassment and retaliation claims involving: Title VII, the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), and state anti-discrimination laws. Employers turn to Kasey for counseling on day-to-day issues such as employee discipline, wage payment, drug testing, application of the ADA and the FMLA, termination, unemployment and workers’ compensation issues.
Clete Samson is a nationally respected crisis response lawyer and focuses his practice on employment law, immigration law, worksite and regulatory compliance, and commercial litigation. He has extensive knowledge of the Immigration and Nationality Act and the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, including the civil and criminal penalties for hiring and employing individuals without employment authorization; worksite enforcement; and other related issues. Clete also provides clients with key preventative advice to help them avoid workplace liability, and if there has been an action or investigation initiated by a governmental agency, he represents clients to ensure the government action is lawful and the matter is resolved fairly and expeditiously.
